Reopening of schools, universities, restaurants demanded 

PESHAWAR: The traders have demanded of state to review its decision about the lockdown and open educational institutions, restaurants, and marriage halls under a standard procedure to save lots of jobs of thousands of individuals.

Speaking at a gathering of various bodies of traders here on Monday, Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders and little Industry president Mohammad Atif Haleem said that the prolonged lockdown affected business activities and lots of traders suffered financial losses to the extent that they were unable to revive their business.

He said that owners of faculties had already promised to run their institutions in shifts with attendance of a minimum number of scholars to make sure implementation of SOP for holding the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that the government should thoroughly monitor the tutorial institutions.

Mr. Haleem said that closure of educational institutions had not only put jobs of thousands of employees at stake but students’ futures also seemed bleak within the prevailing situation. He said that university students were conscious of the sensitivity of things and would definitely look out of themselves.
He said that the livelihoods of thousands of individuals were attached to the wedding halls and restaurants. He said that lockdown badly affected them. The affected people, he said, we're unable to feed their children and pay house rent and utility bills but they got no support from the govt.

Mr. Haleem said that traders were paying different sorts of taxes regularly but the negative impacts on their businesses would also affect the state revenue. He said that the government should announce a relief package for the affected businesses and permit the owners to pay the utility bills in easy installments.

He said that traders were able to extend full cooperation to the government in the creation of awareness among people about coronavirus and safety measures to regulate the communicable disease.

Other traders including Malik Mehr Ilahi and Shakeel Ahmad also demanded an end to the lockdown, saying the restrictions had badly affected businesses.

They said after terrorism, coronavirus pandemic played havoc with businesses but the govt didn't provide any relief to traders.
